Why Coastal Conservation Matters

Our beaches are more than just a beautiful backdrop for our surfing adventures; they are vital ecosystems that support marine life and protect our coastal communities from environmental impacts. Pollution, erosion, and habitat loss pose significant threats to these areas. By engaging in conservation efforts, we ensure that our favorite surf spots remain vibrant and healthy for future generations.

Conservation Tips for Every Surfer

  • Reduce Plastic Usage: Bring reusable water bottles and bags to the beach. Opt for wax combs and other surf accessories made from recycled materials.
  • Participate in Local Clean-Ups: Join community efforts like the Purpose First Beach Clean-Up to remove trash and debris from our beaches.
  • Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about local wildlife and share this knowledge with fellow surfers and beachgoers to foster a community of informed conservationists.
  • Eco-Friendly sunscreen: Purchase sustainable sunscreen brands that are approved with eco-friendly ingredients or support conservation efforts to sustain sea life and ocean hygiene.

Event Feature:
Purpose First Beach Clean-Up

  • When: First Saturday of every month
  • Where: Pacific Beach, on the boardwalk in front of Waterbar
  • What to Expect: Start off with some mind-healing yoga on the beach, then grab a bag and gloves (provided by Purpose First Beach Clean Ups) to help clean our beloved Pacific Beach. It’s a great way to meet fellow surfers/community members, stay active, and give back to the ocean that gives us so much. There are always good DJ tunes, snacks, and a social happy hour to follow!

Our beaches are the heart of the surfing community here in San Diego, and it's up to us to keep them clean, healthy, and alive. Every effort counts, from attending a clean-up to making small changes in our daily habits. Let's continue to ride the wave of conservation together!

Ready to make a splash? Sign up for the next Purpose First Beach Clean-Up and follow us on social media to stay updated on all our conservation activities. Let's show the world how the So Cal Surf Tribe leads in protecting our coastal paradise!

Thank you for being a part of our community. For any questions, or if you want to share your conservation ideas and stories, please reach out to us at @Socalsurftribe.
